Community Outreach
Mission: Enable economically disadvantaged youth to reach their full potential, assist local community to overcome adversity, improve perception of the Hindu community and organize local volunteering events for the HTW Community.
Strategy: The HTW Community Outreach Initiative aims to achieve a positive and impactful presence within the local community. This strategy outlines four key pillars that guide our outreach efforts:
Education for the Youth:
- Focus: Empowering economically disadvantaged youth to reach their full potential.
- Activities: After-school programs, tutoring, college admissions coaching, career days.
- Partnerships: Interfaith, CISD, Just Serve, local schools.
- Metrics: Number of students tutored, career days organized, college admissions coaching provided.
Overcome Adversity in the Local Community:
- Focus: Providing support and resources to address challenges faced by the community.
- Activities: Mental health support, mentoring, career advice, financial skills workshops.
- Partnerships: Mosaics for Mercy (mental health), local organizations (to be identified).
- Metrics: Number of individuals receiving counseling or career advice, partnership with Mosaic of Mercy for mental health support.
Build Relationships with Local Organizations:
- Focus: Fostering collaboration and positive connections with various local entities.
- Activities: Engaging with The Woodlands Township, School Boards, local art leagues, government representatives, Lone Star College, Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce.
- Partnerships: Targeted outreach to relevant organizations.
- Metrics: Developed plan for engagement with key organizations, identified individuals capable of leading these initiatives.
Organize Local Volunteering Events:
- Focus: Contributing to the community through active participation in volunteer opportunities.
- Activities: Indian art events, sponsorship of local events, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Community Family Services, Community Assistance Center.
- Partnerships: Woodlands Waterway Art Festival, Community Family Services, Habitat for Humanity, local fire departments/police departments, schools.
- Metrics: Number of volunteers participating in events, number of events organized.
By implementing this strategic framework, the HTW Community Outreach Initiative strives to create a lasting impact, empower youth, address community needs, foster strong relationships, and actively contribute to the local environment.
